De 12, 2012

Hello, I do hope you are enjoying my news letters for Christmas.. be sure to check the older posts for more ideas.
I made one batch of Cinnamon popcorn and now I have to make another. The first batch is all but gone and I expect Hubby will eat most of the next batch as well. I am trying to talk him into taking some in to work to share with others but i don't think he's going to share as he likes it that much. I may have posted the Cinnamon popcorn recipe before, if so, forgive me please. We will just call it a brain fart.
Cinnamon Popcorn
1 1/2 c Sugar
1 C Butter
3/4 C Lt Corn Syrup
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
2 Tsp Cinnamon Oil (adjust to your own tasts, this is strong stuff)
Red food color, a few drops
6 quarts popped corn
Combine sugar, butter and syrup in a heavy pan and bring to boil.
Boil 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, ad rest of the
ingredients except the corn. Pour over popped corn and mix well in
an oiled roasting pan. Bake 1 hour at 200o. Stirring every 15
minutes, or until dry to the touch.
* found this recipe in my mom's recipe box. We love it. I add 1
to 2 cups peanuts to this.

Chocolate Spoons

In separate containers, melt 2 ounces of semisweet chocolate and a
small amount of white chocolate.
Dip fancy gold, silver, clear or colored plastic spoons in melted
semisweet chocolate, coating only the bowl of the spoon. Place spoons
on waxed paper until chocolate is set. Drizzle white chocolate onto
the bowl of the spoon in a swirl or zig-zag pattern.
Refrigerate spoons until ready to use or store in a cool, dry place
in a tightly covered container
Serve spoons with hot coffee, hot cappuccino, or hot cocoa.
The chocolate melts as the beverage is stirred.
For gifts, wrap each spoon in a small square of Saran or cellophane
wrap and tie with a pretty ribbon where the spoon bowl meets the
handle.
Makes about 8 spoons
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Let your heart be light,
From now on our troubles
Will be out of sight.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on our troubles
Will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore,
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years
We all will be together
If the Fates allow,
Hang a shining star
On the highest bough,
And have yourself
A merry little Christmas now.
Assess your supply of nonfood items needed for the holidays such as extra batteries, photo accessories, candles, etc.

Christmas cards and holiday letters are spilling from the mailbox these days, so take note! Their arrival means it's time to update the address book.
Check cards and envelopes for address changes; update address books for those who have moved or changed telephone numbers.
Too busy? No problem! Toss envelopes into a file folder; when life slows down in January, it'll be easy to check return addresses against address book entries and update as needed.

The History of Christmas Cards

banner

Given the popularity of greeting cards, it's no wonder why it's a multi-billion dollar industry. The ancestor to modern greeting cards is the vintage Christmas card, which paved the way for the cards we send today, and opened the door to fun, everyday cards and thank-you notes. History in the making!
