What Child Is This

What Child is this, who laid to rest,
On Mary's lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear: for sinners here,
The silent Word is pleading.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through,
The Cross be borne, for me, for you:
Hail, hail, the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh;
Come peasant, king to own Him.
The King of Kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Raise, raise, the song on high,
The Virgin sings her lullaby:
Joy joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

How to Make an Angel using a Clothespin

  • 1 Flat Clothespin

  • Feathers

  • Craft Glue

  • Ribbon

  • 2 Wooden Hearts

  • Acrylic Paint

  • Paint Brush

  • Glitter

  • Embroidery Floss

  • Metallic Chenille Stem
  •
Trim down a feather and glue it over the split end of the clothespin.

The feathers will act as the angel's skirt.

Make the angel's shirt by simply wrapping a piece of ribbon around the clothespin above the feather. Use the ribbon to hide the end of the feather. You can also use a contrasting piece of ribbon to look like a belt or sash.

Use some paint and a fine paint brush to make the angel's face. You can also use a marker if you like, but you might want to test it first to make sure the ink won't bleed.

You can add hair to your angel by cutting lengths of embroidery floss or yarn. Glue it in place on top of the head.

Paint the two wooden hearts white. While the paint is wet, sprinkle them with glitter. Let the wings dry. You can also add the glitter by spreading glue onto the dried, painted wings and then sprinkling the glitter on.

Cut a piece off the chenille stem that is about 3-inches long. Form one end into a circle shape. The straight end can be glued to the back of the angel to secure. This should look like a halo sitting just above the angel's head.

Cut a piece of ribbon about 12-inches long. Fold it in half and glue both ends onto the back of the angel. You can use this loop as a hanger for your angel.
Finally, add the wings to the back of the angel by gluing the two hearts together and then glue them to the back of the angel (refer to the photo). The wings will hide the ends of the ribbon, etc.

Let the glue on the angel dry, hang it up, and enjoy!
