Sept 17

Good Morning.  I hope you are well rested and ready to start a new day.  It is suppose to rain all day long here, with a high in the mid 70's.  Good day for a crock pot meal. I'll be making a roast in mine for tonight's dinner. Hubby has no idea how long he will have to work today so another good reason to cook in the CP.
Last week, I made some apple butter and it is about 1/2 gone already.  If I had family closer, I'd make some up for them. As it is, I have to limit how much I eat of it. I could eat the whole large jar if I'm not careful. I didn't make it for me but for my Hubby.
I may make some for his Christmas, this year. It's great spread on toast, biscuits and pancakes. He loves it on pancakes..

Now, I know the second recipe is alcoholic, don't shoot me. I have a collection of recipes and wanted to share them. I'm not sure how this would taste without the Vodka, but I'm sure there is a way to make it without the booze in it.

Gather Around Christmas Punch

1 (750 milliliter) bottle vodka

1 (46 fluid ounce) can grapefruit juice

1 (46 fluid ounce) can pineapple juice

1 (2 liter) bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

2 trays ice cubes, or an ice ring

Directions:

1. In a swanky punch bowl (a MUST), combine the vodka, grapefruit
juice, pineapple juice, lemon-lime soda and ice, or ice ring. This punch is
too good for the little punch glasses that come with the punch bowl so use
your highball glasses, stand around the punch bowl and have a good time!

Three Wise Men

Oh Holy Night

O holy night, the stars are brightly shining;
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks
a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees,
O hear the angel voices!
O night divine,
O night when Christ was born!
O night divine, O night,
O night divine!

Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,

Here came the wise men from Orient land.
The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger, In all our trials born to be our Friend!
He knows our need, To our weakness no stranger;

Behold your King!
Before the lowly bend!
Behold your King! your King!
before Him bend.

Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother
And in His name all oppression shall cease.

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,

Let all within us praise His holy name!

Christ is the Lord,
Oh praise His name forever,
His pow'r and glory evermore proclaim
His pow'r and glory
evermore proclaim.

Paper Christmas Wreath

By using the Sizzix Originals holly leaves die with your die cutting machine, you can create this project within minutes. If you do not have a die cutting machine, this project can also be made by hand cutting holly leaves instead and following the instructions below for arranging them.

Paper Christmas Wreath

Time required: about 30 minutes

Difficulty Level: Easy

Material List:

- dark green cardstock
- saucers, bowls, cans or anything round to use as a template for making the ring
- silver gel pen
- scissors
- 3-D double sided adhesive foam tape
- craft glue
- 3 red half beads
- green cord for hanging

Instructions:

1. Use cans, saucers, or bowls to create a ring out of the green cardstock. For this project the outer circle is 13 cm (about 5 inches) and the inner circle 10 cm (about 4 inches). Cut the ring out.
2. Use your die cutting machine and your holly motif die cut to create 18 leaves. The die has 2 leaves, so you need to run it thorugh the machine 9 times.
3. After your have cut your leaves, use the gel pen and draw line around the inside edge of the leaf. Repeat for the remaining leaves.
4. Take 6 leaves (3 large and 3 small) and place 3-D foam tape on the backsides of them and set them aside for the moment.
5. Take the remaining leaves and arrange and glue them around the ring, overlapping each previous leaf as you add a new one. Make sure your cover the whole ring.
6. Now take the 6 leaves with the foam tape on the backside. Remove the protective paper and stick these at an even distance from each other around the wreath to add dimension.
7. Glue on the 4 half beads as berries.
8. Tie a cord loop to the backside of the wreath to hang it.

If you wish to hang this in the window, it would look great if both sides are covered with leaves. Just create a double amount of leaves and follow the instructions above for the backside. Cover the ends of the hanging loop before you are finished.

Things to do at Christmas time, make a small book of your favorite holiday recipes. Make one for each of your Children this year, as a special gift of sharing the love of cooking and caring for your family.  Write why each recipe is special and in your small book. Don't want to make a book? Then give a few recipes in a recipe box.
